Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble.
It's also very frustrating that fixing of issues and release of new updates is very slow and so far I didn't see major fixes done. Very frustrating.
Groupy 1.18 was released on December 5, 2018:

What I want is for Stardock to say is, 'we will fix the issue' and more than that to hear from Stardock 'we fixed the issue.' One thing that happened recently before Groupy was turned off was WindowsBlinds got updated. Maybe that was the cause. I don't know. I want Stardock to find out.
Any support department needs to evaluate any report with the following:
- Its own merit - what is being said, what information do we have from the report - what do we still need?
- Do we have any other like reports?
- Is the issue reproducible at-will by the client; can we reproduce the issue as reported?
- What OS, 3rd party apps, or settings is the issue being observed under?
- If observable at all, and readily reproducible, is it a flaw with our app, the OS, a corp policy, or 3rd party app interaction?
- How likely is one to run into the issue when considering the possibility / feasibility to fix it?
Much of that effort takes time - time most clients do not often want to spend. Knowing that as true, the purge (an all inclusive uninstall for any software), and subsequent reboot / reinstall, fixes the overwhelming majority of issues:
- Cleans everything related to the app
- Rebooting is a wonderful cleanser itself
- It ensures the client has the most recent version on reinstall
As for your issue, and using the above to evaluate it:
Sometimes (enough number of times to be frustrating),
So it is not readily reproducible nor can we do so.
Groupy keeps getting turned off automatically. I have to open Groupy and manually turn it back on.
While we have had such reports for some other apps (very rare and traceable to other reasons unrelated to our app), not Groupy.
If I had to guess (and feeling near positive), when your issue happens, the service is being turned off by by something other than the app itself:

It is either a work corp policy or an AV app - both are things we don't / can't control.
That said, a clean boot can help in determining if that is the case:

If you cannot find the culprit, I have written this for you to start Groupy a little easier should it indeed be off - it will start Groupy if its off, stop it if its running:

I hope this provides some better understanding and some help.
