Some suggestions to make the game better against the AI:
based on Crusade 2.31 version
Invasion:
-current mechanics is bad.. way too easy to roll over the AI's planets. most of them won't have legions for defense. Which is understandable since legion's cost is high (way too high tbh, better to build a citizen, make it a general/promote and receive 10 legions). So the ai tries to defend with small scattered fleets garrisoned on each planets.. that's really useless. A single well built ship accompanying the transport eliminates the defenders easily.
Recomendation:
-The initiation of an invasion should take up the rest of the turn, and the actual attack would start in the following turn, so the defender would have a turn to gather it's fleet. (This could also work as a blockade, or maybe raid to steal stuff from the planet)
-planets with bigger population would require more turns to fully capture (1 turn per city+colony capital)
-some legions should/must remain on conquered planets tokeep them from revolting. (this way the attacker would need to use up some of their forces)
-I think conquered planets should have turns of resistance (like in civ)
Some other bits:
-The AI don't use the fleet logistics to it's potential. it sends several attacking/defending ships separately which are easy prey to my fleets. AI should focus on building fleets more.
-Speed: speed should be toned down considerably. Fortunately the AI won't build fast ships (would be a nightmare to defend), but human players can expoit speed in various ways.
