The above link will take you to a mod that replaces the system names with (in my opinion) slightly better versions. I use it as I hate the default star names on GC3.

Agreed and as you can just mod them out its no big deal. Would've been nice if they'd screened the process a bit better but at least they left in the option to rewrite the list!

Yes, in hindsight giving Founders the right to name stars wasn't the best idea, or at least a "no that's too stupid" pass should have been made before names were approved.

Says he who named his Star Wishupona... Which, in my defence, I chose because I figured the Drengin, etc wouldn't know the reference so would think "Cool name" not "Duh, named after a line in a nursery rhyme!" No alcohol involved in that decision!

I'd say stevezar is right, all players in a MP game would need the same file otherwise the system would freak out and get confused, because Player 1's Star Orion IV is Player 2's Andromeda 1 is Player 3's Sentinel III....
