Im guessing most of these are going to be added when the Ship Designer DLC comes out when the steam workshop feature is added. but still thought I would post the bugs I found.
Bugs:
- The Rotate gizmo is missing the "backface cull" flag, artists will know what im talking about. Basically its not displaying correctly as the poly faces are reversed.
- Some ships, for whatever reason, you cant zoom in as much as you can others. Makes it hard to do close up work.
Have noticed that Tiny ships you cant zoom in much if at all, and the larger the ship it is the more your able to zoom in. The min/max zoom needs to be adjusted for hull size. or at least make it changeable in the menu.
- The pause animation button doesn't work.
- Im guessing its unavoidable due to how some of the parts are made, however. You cant invert some parts. eg:. Warp drive dont invert, weapons do invert, sensors dont invert, etc.
- depending on where you place parts, in some cases you cant decide to remove the mirroring of the part, eg: if I attach a sensor to a wing of a ship that is mirrored, and I don't want the sensor to also be mirrored you are unable to choose to not mirror that attached sensor. I'm guessing this might be an intentional function due to the limitation of how parts are mirrored.
- Custom ships you make dont increase the number for each version unless it was based off a pre-built design and not a design from scratch. eg : Yor Customship M1, should auto change to Yor Customship M2 if I make a change. Guessing it isn't taking into account that I typed M1 as opposed to when the designer auto assigns M1 to pre-built designs. Might be nice to have a separate text field under the name where you could add a ship version prefix and number. that way the games knows what its supposed to update. this would also help or even fix the next issue.
- The " upgrade design to latest version" button in the shipyard doesn't work in most cases, if at all. This mostly is just an issue with custom ships you have made. All it seems to do it change it to a random constructor.
- If you make a new ship that has an identical name as another ship you cant save over your previous design, it just makes a new ship design with the same name. kinda confusing.
Annoyances: (Seen a few similar posts to some of these)
- I would love an option for the attach nodes for ships to scale more depending on how much you are zoomed in or out. it is sometimes hard to pick the correct one as they overlap when close up.
- I Really really want an undo option. if I accidentally press the key to delete a part I want to be able to bring it back, if I scale/rotate a part and I want to take it back a few steps I want to be able to undo it a few steps back.
- Wish there was a button for custom ships in the designer where you can just press it and it would upgrade all components to the newest versions, like the pre built ships auto do when you research something. Even better would be where it would bring up the list of its parts, and you can tick which parts you want to upgrade on the ship. Saves time having to redesign an entire ship when I get new techs.
- There is no way, like in gal civ 2, to hide ship visual parts vs ship components from the lower bar/list of parts. When in the "Equip" menu the aesthetic parts hide, but in "design mode" they are both visible. You have no control over what you want to show.
- I want to be able to save a template with ship parts on it, for use as a aesthetic part later. I remember ages ago that this was something that we were going to be able to do. Im guessing that this is something that is coming with the ship designer DLC later when the steam works gets added.
- We need filter/sorting options in the designer and also in shipyards. Things like sort/hide by hull type, cost, name, show constructors only, ect.
- Would be nice to have an option to rotate the light source in the designer, if I am trying to do something under the ship, in some cases I cant see it clearly as its all in shadow.
- I want to be able to, like in Gal civ 2. Lock with a button the visual parts in place for when im adding functional components, so not to accidentally move or alter these parts in any way
