As the release is inminent, Devs must be crazy with latest tweaks, bug-fixing, balancing, polishing, graphical and sound improvements and all that.
Many of the issues have been already presented. But I've noticed some post of new players complaining of diverse issues, that beta testers have maybe ignored because got used to them, or find less important than other ones more relevant.
I'd like to add some ideas targeting to improve the experience for new players, that will find a complex game full of variables, and may feel overwhelmed.
I would feel sad reading post of new players that give the game a chance, and leave it because of the difficulty at easy modes or the hard to learn curve...
So let's go with it:
- Difficulty settings. Easy mode is the one I chosed for my first game, after that, I went to normal and now i'm on challenging. But I read a post of a player complaining easy mode is too difficult. Having in mind the new players, do you think easier modes are well balanced to have a good experience? Are them good enough to have a learning curve for people that will not read forums or the internet to improve strategics?
- Hiergamon. As a place to consult information of the world, creatures and all that, it must be updated with recent changes.
* Is the information provided correctly updated and enough?
* To have an access button in the menu, so no needed to start a game to consult it, is a good idea.
- Tutorial. I'm sorry but I have not played it. Do you think is well explanatory for new players? The importance of food, resources and settling more cities and doing quest before starting troops?
- Wildlands. They are related to the difficulty settings.
* Is it clear that attacking a dragon with your low level Sov is suicide?
* Will be avoided to have beasts that destroy cities in easier modes? Or at least, give enough messages of "i'm going to destroy your city"
- Cities.
* The upgrade pop-up should take to the city. If not, how can I know wich upgrade select? Renaming all cities? No. That's a patch, not a solution.
* The monument. 2 different builidings with same name? This is very confusing.
* The pioneers should show the zone of control (ZoC) of the outpost or city before it settles.
- Units.
* Exploration. The button could be highlighted when in exploration mode.
* Click to show the path, and second click to move. Or any other way. But now, a mistake means losing turns, or having to reload.
* Joining/splitting button. Or a way to combine armies in the same tile.
I'd like to add more ideas...I hope you can complete this with more suggestions for the devs to give a better experience for new players... If you are a new player, please post here what do you think to improve your experience with some parts of the game.
