Fences

I'm currently using an app called bins, which has a few limitations that bug me. Is fences a similar program? I saw the video on it, but couldn't really tell if it accomplished the same as bins. If you aren't familiar with bins, theoretically, your suppose to be able to group icons in different groups on your task bar.

Thanks

Fences organizes your desktop icons for you.
You can set up multible Fences.
Can be hidden or visible, at your request. Just doubleclick the desktop to hide/show the Fences.

Quite a must-have application if your desktop tend to be a mess of icons. :)

Fences lets you group, sort and hide your desktop icons. It's not as flashy as other methods (docks, DX themes) but  it's very easy to set up and use and makes your desktop more efficient and uncluttered. Worth trying out imho.

I use mainly my taskbar for everyday applications, so I don't think fences will work for me.

@wizard1956, are you saying (docks or DX themes) does what I need or just does what fences does in a flashier way?

thx guys :)

GianRoss some folks will use Fences, Docks or DX Themes by themselves or in combinations and hide the Taskbar off screen.  You can also use Tiles.  :sun:

Fences is great for grouping and hiding your desktop icons. ObjectDock is awesome as a replacement for the taskbar. You can have tabbed docks; each tab can hold numerous icons. For instance, Game tab for games, and so on. Also, you can incorporate the taskbar and system tray into a tabbed dock, and hide the Windows taskbar if you want.

I use both Fences and ObjectDock, but ObjectDock is necessary for my purposes as I use so many shortcuts constantly.

@willistruder

I watched a review of ObjectDock it is exactly what I need. Could you tell me or can anyone tell me, it's really important for me to be able to customize color and font combinations not only on my desktop (which isn't a problem), but within the window background, for example my web browser or whatever program I plan to use. I can change the color of my browser through it options, but that doesn't usually jive well with the alignments or links of a webpage, same is I'm to increase the font size. WindowFX looked to me to be able to accomplish this, is that correct? That together with ObjectDock would be perfect, as well as customizing in general. I hope I made sense in my explanation?

thanks again everyone :)

Sorry, I can't help you out there. I've never used WindowsFX.

WindowFX does not do what you describe.  Perhaps you meant WindowBlinds?

I was asking. Does WindowBlinds allow this do you know?

Thanks

Take a look at https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/screenshots.asp and see if it does what you want.

Under screen shots, the star wars inspired one looks to accomplish what I'm asking for. Except the windows behind and around it, could they be changed to look like the skinned one? I was also checking out the 2nd video on how to customize title bars, but it doesn't look as if I can do the whole window?

thanks for you're reply
