FE is shaping up to be a great game especially considering that the developers seem to be going in the right direction with their design decisions and their future plans I only have one big concern and that is the AI. As of now the AI handles the start well but seem to do worse and worse the more complex the world gets. At a certain point it really doesn't matter how much of a lead the ai has because you know you allready won due to the following facts.
*AI sends a few units vs my well defended cities, giving me free exp
*AI seems to run around with badly injured and damaged heroes that is easily killed. (Does AI take this into consideration when calculating power?)
*If I have enough mana the ai lose, they don't counter spell properly and one powerful spell will kill half their army.
*AI don't save up enough mana to really challenge me in big fights. Kind of related to previous point but ...
*Bad defending of cities and outposts.
The solutions are pretty simple in terms of understanding the counters to the above but the question is if it's possible for the developers to put the time and effort into making the AI challenging even in mid to late game. As it is now I suspect most people who complain of the AI beeing to good have problems with the beginning and is unable to transition into mid/late game. Now and then I lose due to a bad start but if I manage to hold on I know the AI will stop performing well. I have windows 7 64 bit and not a bad computer so my guess is that the AI is performing as well as it can for me.
Would really hate if a game with this potential and well thought out design would fail due to bad AI. Is the game to complex for the AI or can it be fixed with enough time?
