Does anybody really want a tech tree poster?
I got one when I bought my Game of the Year edition and had to wonder who decided that this is what gamers want. In my opinion, putting a tech tree poster up on your wall is way to geeky and just looks plain dumb. No disrespect to the tech tree, I think that they are great in the game, just I do not think that they are a thing of beauty. I would much rather have that picture of the Ragnarov titan with the Rebellion logo in the corner. Orange and awesome. Now that would be a Sins poster I would put up on my wall.
I also think that the "making of" Blu-Ray disc idea is dumb not only because I don't know anybody who would actually want to see the developers working on balance and what-not (Not my idea of entertaining), a Blu-Ray disc would also be unnecessary because I don't think that there would be anything on the video that would be more awesome in higher definition. Some things just don't benefit very much from Blu-Ray.
Still, behind the scenes discs are becoming quite popular. I got one with my Spore collector's edition, one with my Fallout 3 collector's edition, one with my Fallout New Vegas collector's edition, and I decided I didn't need the one for the Skyrim collector's edition because all I really wanted was the map and not the plastic statue and the 200 page art book. So I just pre-ordered the regular game and got my map and now I feel bad and wish that I had gotten the collector's edition. So I guess people do care about these things, so I am fine with Stardock throwing one in.
I would also prefer that the model of the titan be in its faction colors instead of just metallic. I know that this would cost more, but I would gladly pay extra to get the colored version instead of the metallic. This is just my personal opinion, though, I don't know if this is the way most people feel.
I would love an art book, especially if it was hard cover and maybe had some interviews with the concept artists in it, maybe separating different chapters or at the front or back.
Exclusive DLC is, in my opinion, not really needed because it might screw up the delicate balance in a massive game like Sins of a Solar Empire. However, if it is just something harmless like extra music (that would actually be really awesome) or picture sets or maybe a different main menu (it is really in need of a major update) I would be fine with it, maybe even like it.
I would really like a Rebellion boxed collector's edition as big as the Skyrim collector's edition. I would not make the same mistake twice of not buying the collector's edition for the best game in its genre (Skyrim - RPG, Sins Rebellion - strategy). I would snap this up as soon as it was put on sale. And don't forget about the soundtrack CDs!
