Too Much Mana and Gold?

I just played a version .85 game on Normal and was blown away by the amount of gold and mana I got.  I had started using mana in combat totally unrestricted (fighting every monster or enemy I came across with two champion armies and casting every combat spell I could) and still had over 3000 mana.  I think I had 8 Shards under my control towards the end.  Don't get me wrong, I like having enough mana to be able to use mana in a fight, but to reach a point where I don't need mundane troops seems a bit over the top.  Having to decide if the situation warrants burning mana or letting the grunts do it the hard way is part of the challenge. 

Same thing with gold.  I think I had almost 3000 GP and had bought everything I needed.  Too much!!

the game i won i finished with many champions not fully equipped

 

even though i had thousand golds in mid game after you discover magic stuff they cost a lot of money so it takes time to wear them all

 

id say money is quite balanced

even thogh i dont like cities spamming i had 3

how many cities do you usually build?

 

as for mana my pool increased during mid game i got nearly 2000

but when the real war started i REALLY had to spam spells in each fight to win and around end game i got to ZERO Mana again! but then war was over

anyway im not sure i had really that much, having a few more could have helped

 

 

i had only 5 shards i think mid game maybe thats the reason

Gold is kind of balanced, but most of my GDP comes from selling hero items. Late game economy is better balanced than early game IMO.

You're definitely going to want to be storing mana.  As in, >1000 mana before you get into a war.  It's important to remember that we haven't even added in the unique champion spells yet or world spells.

I don't have a problem with it. If you're making too much money, lower your tax rate to improve research and other stuff.

Mana, when I go to war I can burn through it pretty fast on my super stack. Especially since in one of my games I had to build land bridges to attack the spots I wanted to. So far I really don't see the problem with it.

The real problem is all the weapons you get and how much you can sell them for.

75% of items are horrible warrior weapons and I rarely have 3 warriors so you always have a bunch of warrior weapons too sell for 40-1600$

If anything taxes are still a little underpowered. If I ever needed actual armies the upkeep would be really painful.

I've waged a decade long war with only my Sovereign and endless mooks, and let me tell you ... you CAN fund a crusade with only selling items

 

(although capturing new cities certainly helps)-> Oppressive Taxes can be useful, but only when combined with 0 taxes after you sell items to get your soldiers built faster.

This game currently feels like a D&D game where all the merry peasants and noblemen do their daily jobs and create up to 100 gp of wealth per day and your adventuring group runs in from their last dungeon delve and has 10000s gold worth of magical items to sell

 

I wonder who pays for all these items you sell in FE and where do they get the money?

Well, think about it ... your gold only comes from the TAXES, not the total wealth of the nation

 

While the taxes are admittedly unrealistically low ... I think it does provide more opportunities for 'fun'

aka: do I keep this awesome Item? Or do I sell it to research faster for the next 10+ turns?

Yeah, there has to be a level 5 Life Spell to bring on Torin. I actually thought that was already in the game for some reason, and was bummed out when I recently got a Level 5 Life Mage and no awesome champion summon.
