Fired up Sins and created AI only game (surrender, carry on playing) just to check out the changes such as research tree etc.
First thing I noticed, probably not AI specific but Auto Cast behaviour that could seriously need tweaking. The Anatorak Marauder was the only ship in a Gravity Well apart from a scout so it went off to attack it. It had Phase Out Hull so what did it do? Phase out Scout, then Phase Out itself, then the scout, then itself until it's AM was depleted. Obviously it just picks a target based on some kind of prioirty but when there's only 2 targets it shouldn't bother.
Second thing I saw I was really surprised to see. Some pirates attacking a Star Base, I don't know if it was intentional but some really clever moving of his ships meant he lasted ages. Basically any ships getting hit would fly around and then out of range of the SB and back again. This would cause the SB to pick another target and give the damaged ships time to recover. The pirates eventually died but this bug/feature? meant they took way more HP from the SB than expected.
At first when I saw it I thought they had given Strike Craft movement type to pirates but I noticed they only did it when shot at and stayed still when not under fire.
Anyway had to go after 20 mintes of checking it out, hope to give it a proper play soon.
