1. I gave "Jericho" a try. While it wasn't the most groundbreaking game out there (being a first person shooter) it did have a LOT of unique characteristics for a FPS. I have yet to see the same style of tactical combat replicated in any game.
2.Another game that I tried and really didn't expect to enjoy, but did, was Tribes: Vengence. This is one of the best shooters I have played, not because of the graphics(which i don't care much for anyway), the voice acting, or even the online multiplayer challenge, but because of the story and gameplay. The story constantly switches between different characters and time periods, leaving you to embrace this huge conflict and lore that takes place within the scope of hundreds of years. Then there is the gameplay, oh man. You have a personal jetback that can be used to actually fly. Hell, at one point in time, you get to play an android assassin that used his jetback and grappling hook to ninja his way around guards and obstacles, then take out a major character in the story. its pretty epic. FPS games are my least favorite, and I usually don't expect much, but Tribes: Vengence is a must play.
