There's an old site called www.galciv2guide.com that a fellow named Drengin runs.... or ran, I should say. It's pretty dead, but if enough people sign up I think it'll get D's attention and he can start fixing things.....

Hey, who_do_you_think_IS_always_working at further "updates" to two personal mods in the shadows of absence & lack of forums accessing pace - lately?

The only dead place will & always would be in people's mind.

The biggest problem being that without a library to dump our newest stuff *here*, dedicated modders seek out other places to upload their contributions.

Speaking of which... there are sooooo many hosting sites that anyone serious enough can manage to push a thread up (as in bump as soon as versions are done!) into action continually with regular code_tracking_activities. Click'a'link. Unzip. It's rather easy.

All it takes is the constant interest & dedication.

Far from being abandonware, GC2 is simply "under the radar" until WoM development is over... and, god'help'us'all, GC3 is slated for beta runs by SD. It will happen. It's written in the skies. It's what we're here for. It's what we do that matters, not what we say we will do.

I-Mod had its "access flaws' last spring... i'm just your usual busy guy and if i had it my way, a day would last 48 hours -- 90% of which would be to finish the X-W fleets & ships.

All we want is GunslingerBara to **finally** fix the local library. Sooner than never.

In the meantime, live hard. And, DO it.

So what are people playing that is a space based build game that is not Gal Civ 2? I think this game is great but I have yet to find another that even comes close to it. I do not like real time games an the turn based has always been a favorite. Does anyone out there have a new game suggestion?

I think mass effect 2 will bring back some of us but with star trek online coming out who has the time to mod.

The original GC2 was released 4 years ago, after all. The expansions added some twists, but nothing big enough to get me to buy them. They were too much like dev-level modding, than an actual expansion on the game. Mining asteroids to obtain resources and increase micro-management is not my idea of an expanded game. It is simply a way to add another layer of complexity.

During that time there have been some great mods, and they will never go away. But now, it is all old-hat. It is simply variations on a theme. How far can you go with that?

And face it. The actual modding capacity of the game, from a users point of view, is simply replacing graphics and sounds and some conditions. It's fun, for a while. Then it wears off.

Nothing lasts forever.

GC2 will hold a special place, in many hearts.

Let's face it... like all "games", it simply fades away sooner than later.

What really didn't workout for me though (from a SD's standpoint) is the fact that the library Uploading capacity vanished (I *DO* have huge updates made up for both X-Worlds & Cosh... and sadly, i'm the only one using them it seems!); it was just like saying to modders --- We, at StarDock, don't mind GC2 stuff anymore.

Well, okay. We, got it. Obviously, priorities change in life (or the gaming business) & what matters (now, at least) is WoM development.

Although i still play a few games of DA here & there just for kicks... i could return to that stuff when some official GC3 finally goes on any devs' schedule, if ever.

Too bad, modders can't share their newest files right here where they'd get better attention from whomever still interested -- somehow.
