Reg question

I played a game earlier tonight, and the Reg did some stuff I'd only seen once before in over 200+ games.

First thing was that he was able to snipe towers. I'm not talking about shooting at them from just out of range, but actually sniping them from across the map. I don't play Reg so don't know if he's always been able to do this and most players don't bother to.

The other was being able to snipe behind lines well after losing visual on the target and not being tagged with a tracking device (I've been sniped enough to know when I'm safe or not). In one case, I was sniped just as I went behind lines, several seconds later the Reg did Heaven's Wrath near me, and then another snipe came shortly after. He either could somehow see me the whole time, or the Heaven's Wrath revealed me so he could lock on for the snipe.

Like I said, it's extermely rare that I've seen this, and am wondering if it's always worked this way?

Reg can snipe you while you're in the fog if he starts to cast it before you disappear. With the heaven's wrath I think that was just a lucky guess on his part of where you were, but then yes it would reveal you for another snipe.

You would not have seen Reg sniping towers much, casue well...there is little point. I play Reg pretty often and i dont ever recall sniping a tower...it's a waste of mana.

As for range....once you get to LvL 8 range is maxed out giving you a possible increase of 12. So depending on map size...across the map sniping is not out of the question,

When you were snipped in the fog, the Reg may have cast on you long before that, like McShane said, but also you can lock the snipe on when well out of range so Reg will run to be in range then cast. Regardless of if your are in fog or not at that point.

Depending on your pathing that also may have let you get some ways behind lines before being sniped.

The 'fogsniping' trick actually plays a useful role for certain characters in competitive DotA. Basically, some people have an AoE attack that can be used at long range or even cross-map (a la Heaven's Wrath), which is used as a finisher.

But yes, Heaven's Wrath reveals you, and a snipe can be taken from there.
