I dont' know about where you are, but if it is a floor model, and the only one left, the retailer will sell it.
Yeah, that is usually the case when it's a superceded model/discontinued line... but not always in some stores when it comes to a current line that's temporarily out of stock... like more are coming in and they need a demonstration model to take orders/laybys, etc. Most often what happens here in Oz is that they will either order you in the item and sell it at the sale price, or they will sell you another brand with the same/similar features for the same price... meaning that you can be walking out of the store with a better, more expensive brand, as I have done many a time when push coming to shove was the better option,
I got what I wanted, and at a great price
Me too! While I didn't get the Samsung that was on sale, I ended up with a Hisense with 24/7 phone support, in-home service and replacement for a $169 less, so I wasn't going to push for the Samsung when I had found a better deal with a 5 year extended warranty on a comparable item.
Furthermore, the Hisense has a couple of extra feature that particular Samsung model lacked... like a PC input so we can play PC games and surf the net on the big screen from the comfort of the sofa. Couldn't have done that on the Samsung, so I'm pretty rapt with my alternative purchase.
