Display Properties integration is different in XP than in prior OS's.

You select skins in the Appearance Tab, 'Windows and buttons' dropdown box.

There is also a WindowBlinds button in that Tab which takes you to WBConfig.

The desktop changing colors is based on the skins overall color scheme.
I don't have access to WB at the moment, but somewhere in the settings is an option to not use the skins color scheme (I believe).

A workaround until an actual answer is provided is to create a black wallpaper and keep that applied.

Make a black wallpaper and set it as you're wallpaper. That's what I did. About 5 to 10 colors. That way you have what ever color you want. It's not that complicated.

Thanks:

I also thought of that, to make things clear. I have no reference to WBlinds in Display Properties Window/Form. Nothing what so ever. If I make any changes to Display Prperties while WB is on, it freezes. And none of teh Apperance I chnage in Display Properties are applied. I like to have my own color settings for Wiindows, & Idont want to edit the skin to chnage that. I did not have any reference to WB in Display Properties in 4.5 Version as well. IS my case a rare case?

Thanks,
AJ

If there is nothing at all in DP about WindowBlinds, WB is not installed properly.

I'd suggest you uninstall it & do a clean reinstall as it should be integrated into DP.

As for the Windows color settings, you can tell WB to ignore the skin's color scheme in WBConfig: Basic Settings/Enhance Desktop elements - uncheck "Apply the skins colour scheme (recommended)". This will apply to all skins.

Switch to Windows Classic in WBConfig to temporarily unload WB. Go to the Appearance tab & set the color scheme you want & click Apply. Then go back to WBConfig & select a skin. Unskinned windows should continue to use the Windows system colors you chose in DP. Be aware that some applications may look odd having a blend of the skin's UI & the system colors (MSOffice apps in particular) unless you use a "Total exclusion" Per Application setting for those apps.

If I read 'public' correctly, that would be the shareware/trial version.

Not real sure if that option exists or (if it does) will work in that version.
I seem to recall, not being able to click on the 'color box' in display properties was an issue when 5 came out. I believe (could be wrong) Neil says you can't do that in the shareware (we were even getting a 'you can't do that in the trial version' message even though we were running the paid version).

That was just a thought...so don't get discouraged if it doesn't work on the trial - the trial does have limitation besides time.

Do you mean the "colorization" box, Sir Bichur? I think you may be right about that, but Alan99Jones seems to be saying there is no evidence in DP at all of WB being installed. I believe the shareware still "integrates" into DP enough to allow skins to be selected & applied there, when installed properly anyway.

I think that's what I mean - real hard for me to visualize correctly- I'm at work and here it doesn't even exist - we aren't even allowed XP themes.

As for the integration - I believe you are correct, but my curiosity has not yet gotten to the point where I want to uninstall my enhanced and install the trial to see the differences.

Hi:

I am thinking of reverting to 4.5, Every time, a Apperance Theme My Current Theme is loaded with White Bg and black fg. Inspite of me renaming my original Apperance theme as My Current Theme. Only way I can continue is to change this My Current Theme.

Thanks for your replies.

Any Script that can convert *.wba to Linux Themes?

.wba is basically another name for .zip (which can be read by WB)

It appears you at one time had WB4.5 on your system. Did you uninstall 4.x before installing the WB5 trial version? Not doing so could be part or all of the problem.

WB4.x must be completely uninstalled before installing the version 5 trial (first make a backup copy of your skins folders somewhere if you want to be sure not to lose them).
