WB11 on Windows 10 and Start 10

Skins do not apply

I notice other reports of skins not applying. Just to verify, I'm running Windows 10 22H2 release channel, Start 10, and WB11. When I installed WB11 and reboot I had skins applying. Then I had to reboot for a different reason and skins no longer applied at all. No number of reboots would restore the skinning. I then remove 11, reboot and reinstalled WB10 and everything works as expected.

Should I remove WB10, reboot, install WB11 and then see what Happens? Or to be more to the point, should WB11 work on Windows 10 with Start10 installed?

I had a similar issue when I first installed WB11 on my Win10 system. What I did to resolve my issue is do the purge WB10, reboot immediately, reinstall WB11. Reboot again and than it work for me.

Thank you,

I did a standard uninstall of WB10, reboot and then installed WB11 and it worked, Rebooted again and still works. So I'm good to go, thanks for jumping in so quickly, Basj!

Now the next step will be to move Start and Windows to 11, I guess. Still hate not having a vertical Taskbar on the side of my main monitor, though.

There must be something I'm missing (no biggy in that, per se). I haven't installed WB11 as I'm on a W10 machine.

What's the advantage of installing/upgrading to WB11 on a W10 system?

I wish to keep WB 10 on my Win 10 SSD and purchase WB 11 as a stand alone product not as an upgrade to use on My Win 11 SSD. I know SD would want us to take advantage of WB 11 on both, but was told in another topic i could not have both, possibly due to 1 license 1 product. As i already own WB 10, doing it this way will suit me more.

You could not have WB10 and 11 installed on the same windows install as they would conflict and also there is no reason to do so.

The main advantage is that start 11 has two new start menus which are windows 10 style and windows 11 style.

I believe that part of the plan for windowblinds 11 will be to include skinning these two styles. This means your windows 10 menu will be skinnable in a future release.

Additionally, there are some UI changes to the menu including downloading new skins without needing to visit the web pages.

He has two Windows installs on one PC. I believe if he upgrades then he will still be able to run Windowblinds on both installs either by. A, if the upgrade has 5 installs then he can run Windowsblinds on both or B, he keeps windowblinds 10 as well as gains Windowblinds 11.

I think he is just looking for confirmation before he buys.

Let me explain further as you seem to not understand my Intent.

I have a 4 SSD Multi Booting System, Two run Windows 10 and Two Run Windows 11.

Right now i have Start 11 and WB 10 installed on one SSD (lets call it Win 10 1). I have another SSD also Running Win 10 but using Themes (lets call it Win 10 2).

I have another SSD Running Win 11 Using Themes (lets call it Win 11 1). I have the last SSD Running Win 11 (lets call it Win 11 2)

I do not have these SSDs installed on one Windows installation like you think, They are all Independent of each other running there own OSs.

My intent is to buy WB 11 and run this on my last SSD in list above (Win 11 2), ie it will be put onto its own OS (Win 11) including Start 11.

So now that i have made things clear, my question is how many active installs will my purchasing WB 11 and my Existing Start 11 allow me.

The SD page for WB 11 says i should get 5 active installs (IS THIS TRUE), same question for Start 11 which i also own, is this the same, as i require two active installs for both Products to update my 4 SSD Multi Booting System.

Well thats simpler.

WB 11 allows 5 active installs so thats not a problem for you.

Start11 offers 1 active install unless you purchased the 5 pack option or own it via ObjectDesktop in which case it would be 5 installs.

You can use Start10 with WB11 if you wish on Windows 10, what you will miss will be any support for customizing the Win10/11 style menus in Start11 (as obviously Start10 doesn't have those)

Since the understanding of my System and what i was asking was not understood, i did some digging myself and came up with those answers myself yesterday, but thanks for the reply.
