I love the functionality of Fences, but something that has bothered me for a long time while using it is that when I move icons around on the desktop over any fences, there is a blocking pause of the actual icon movement while the fade-in and fade-out animation plays for every fence that's crossed. While the icon movement is stopped (blocked) by the animation, the mouse cursor still moves each with each rendered frame normally.
This gives the feeling of choppiness and creates an unpleasant user experience. I use a high refresh-rate monitor so moving various windows around, for example, is glossy smooth, but moving icons around over fences on the desktop is kind of jarring.
I used to just lump this in with general 'slow performance' of fences (another topic), but I now realize that the title bar fade animations are the specific cause.
Is it possible to fix the animation so it does not block the movement of the icon being dragged? I hope so, since the animation would look nice otherwise (and non-blocking behavior is a UI fundamental...)
Alternately, a quick fix would be to give an option to disable the titlebar fade animation, and would be very welcome!
Unchecking the option could just let the title bar of the moused-over fence switch to highlight color instantly rather than play the fade affect.
Edit: This issue also applies to the 'pop-up' animation of title bars if they are set to only show on mouseover.
Edit 2: Ok, after just thinking to check, even if I disable title bars by setting 'Show Labels' to "Never" and un-check "Fade out scrollbars when inactive", I see similar blocking delays while dragging icons around. Maybe there is a timer hard-coded even if no effect is animating?
