First, loving the game in general. However, one thing is really bothering me that SC2 got right. Bigger stars = hotter planets, closer planets = hotter planets. I've seen too many outer orbit planets with 400+ degrees and planets right next to a super-giant star with -50 degrees. It's ancillary to the plot, and I guess there could be special planets, like Rainbow worlds that defy logic, but it looks like planet temperature is totally random as programmed and a little sloppy given that a fair amount of attention was given to planet detail.
While I'm at it, a few other things that bother me (and others may not care about):
- the effort to capture lifeforms is far too high relative to their RU value. Maybe stun/kill them and instantly be able to pick them up instead of the 1-2 second delay that requires you to stop and wait to pick them up. Also, SC2 had a good mechanic to differentiate the value of life vs. minerals in that they were different currencies for different items. That seems like a more fundamental change, so making them faster to get, or else more valuable, as an alternative.
- Combat is much improved with the fixed arena, however the poison cloud shrinking effect happens a little too fast
- Free salvage ships are a little too common and easy to get. It seems like every system has at least one. I do like getting the variety since you can't get most of them from the creator race. Maybe you have to invest RUs to make them workable?
