The backup section in the terms of service seem overly restrictive to me.
It allows the user to "Make a single backup copy of the Software for archival purposes only."
These are digitally downloaded files, and as such they will be (or at least should be) included in any backup-schedules running on the computer.
I've probably gone a bit overboard with my backups, but this is what happens for me:
- I download your software.
- My computer is automatically backed up to my primary NAS.
- Once per month a full backup of the NAS is made, which then updates with incremental daily backups.
- I save full backups quarterly over a year.
- Once per year, I make a full backup to optical media and archive it.
I'm clearly in violation of the TOS here. I've resolved the situation by making exeptions for your software in my backup routines, but my question is:
Is it really necessary to restrict to a single backup? Can't it just be "Make backup copies of the Software for archival purposes only" instead? Does it really matter if it is one or ten?
