I have noticed that Start8 doesn't display all my pinned to Start8 menu icons properly.
I cuurently have 21 shortcuts and if I set the Allocate for room... option to 0 then it displays only 16 of them. If I set it to 16 then it displays the exact same number of icons as 0 so presumably 16 is the default? However, if I set it to 17 or 18 then I still only see the same 16 icons despite there being 21 items in the list. The only way to refresh the list is to click on the Use large icons option to uncheck it then check it again. This will then show however many icons I have set.
Why doesn't Start8 only allocate what space it needs to display however many icons you have in the list? If I set it to 20 when I have 20 items then they will all display but if I add another than it will not show unless I increase the Allocate room... option to 21 or more (it really could do with a scroll up/down option when this happens IMO). If I set it higher than I need then I'm left with an ugly empty area that serves no purpose. If I set it too low then I lose access to some of my pinned items and I'm also left with an ugly double separator line at the bottom too, which is the end of the pinned list and the start of All Programs. As it currently is, I have to tediously increase and decrease the Allocate room... option everytime I add or remove a pinned item to the Start8 menu. Hardly user-friendly in my view.
How do I get Start8 to only allocate as much space as it needs to display however many large icons I have pinned to my Start8 menu? I'm pretty sure that was how the Windows 7 Start menu worked as I did have to keep increasing a figure in order to display all my pinned items.
