What is the difference between the free and full versions?
Glad you mentioned this, Mark. I'd really like to see Stardock bring a greater level of consistency to product labeling. Perhaps I'm incredibly more dense than the average ObjDesktop user, but I toodled around the Stardock website for quite a while, looking for some clear indication of whether my ObjDesktop subscription included the "full" version of Tiles. Even now, I'm not certain, but I suspect that'd I'd have to pay for what is apparently considered an "upgrade".
I'd humbly recommend the universal application of more easily recognizable designations, like the "basic" and "full" or "pro" labels to which most of us (I assume) are very accustomed. Whatever words are eventually selected, a hierarchy utilizing the terms (or analogs of) "basic", "free", "plus", "full", "pro", "ultimate", etc., would benefit more than myself, methinks. The ObjectDock & CursorFX upgrade policies have been easy for me to grasp, but labels for these products include what I consider clearly defined descriptions.
That said, I want to say that I've been happily acquainted with Stardock since Brad focused on GUI modifications to OS/2. When many in the OS/2 community accused Brad of "selling out" to Microsoft, mine was one of the voices strongly supporting Stardock and its transition to a Windows development focus. Although I haven't been enthused about all Stardock products over the years, but have always felt that the company listened to its users. Although I won't say that I've felt close to Stardock, I did live in Ann Arbor a few years ago, less than 20 miles from company's home in Plymouth, MI.
