They're already willing to give out the first expansion free to those that obtain the game early enough. I was a collector's edition pre-order, but I have confidence that the game will eventually be worth what was paid. Lowering the price could hurt an already hurt Stardock. They've pretty well written the game off as a financial loss but are still committed to fixing what is wrong with it.

So technically, whatever price the expansion goes for is going to be something that we wouldn't have to pay, so we are getting a discount in a way, in spite of Stardock's already hurt finances. I believe Frogboy made a post recently stating that they'd actually increased the Elemental team in order to speed up things and fix their mistakes, creating a game that the gamers want.

This is just my thought on any sort of a discount. People who purchase the game after all the hardships and issues are fixed shouldn't profit from what those that supported the game from the start were given, because it's our support, not future support, that is getting the game fixed in the first place.

That's like discounting the next generation of a car because the first generation buyers found a flaw and it was fixed. Only the original owners should benefit, because future buyers are getting their money's worth.

They can't give discounts because of retail problems. Basically, they would get in trouble for underselling. That's why they give out free expansion.

I will write the first thing that came to mind "Hahahahaha... No."  The second and third things I won't write though except to say see Hertston and Tydorius's posts, they said it quite well.

Its worth the asking price.

Since you are so cool, explain why it would make sense for them to lower the price? 

Are they going to have a big stack of digital downloads that they can't store too long?  Are the bits and bytes going to go stale?

Elemental is a finished game and that is why it is $49.95.  The people who have a right to grumble would be the people who pre-ordered the game or were people who purchased the game in the opening days when there were serious technical issues with it.

Someone who wants to wait for the game to be discounted can certainly do that. But they won't be getting the free expansions.

Hmm. So like... wait 2 years and pick up the Elemental Compilation on an Impulse Weekend Sale...?

Problem solved.

I've already gotten $50 worth of entertainment out of it, so if Stardock wants to give me more with patches and expansions, even better.

Or I'm the one being naive for preaching to the choir lol.  Had just wanted to interject that point of supporting continued development by buying the game now vs later.  But your method of directing the perpetually malcontent to wait for a bargain bin purchase, might be the better tactic.  Those who are frequently disappointed to the point of public rage, might be better off just waiting.  I hadn't meant anything I said to be directed at your posting or person. 

I agree with the release excitement Brad.  I enjoy the communal buzz that comes with a new release.  That buzz is even greater since the developers are active in the community.  I can't stress enough how much I admire and appreciate Stardocks openness and participation within the fan community! 

I am currently unable to purchase Elemental because I'm still financially recovering from an emergency home repair.  But I am still enjoying the communal buzz here.  I check for new dev journals as part of my morning ritual.  I watch people playing the game on YouTube.  I read the forums and longingly check out the cool mod works.  I'm enjoying this despite not having the game yet!  I just can't wait for it!  I have no doubt that Elemental is destined to epicness.  In years to come I will look fondly back on these first days.  A new age in TBS gaming has dawned for me.  I will look back on this beginning as I have for Civ I.  A new king is born.  And I am enjoying the process!

I am happty with the product and expect great things from the company.  I complain like everyone else that paid when I am unhappy, and little by little my concerns are being addressed.  No company out there communicates with us like that, none.
