Improved start-up behavior vs Firewalls, please

Whenever Elemental: War of Magic is patched, and I start it up, it freezes my entire PC and requires a hard reboot.

Why? Because I forgot to go into my Firewall's settings and tell it to allow Elemental to access the internet.

Even if I forgot, all it would take is being able to alt-tab out of the start up screen and click 'Yes' when it asks me if I want to allow Elemental to access the internet, but this is impossible. It locks up my entire system while it tries over and over again to access the internet, and ZoneAlarm keeps blocking it.

A lot of programs let me alt-tab out or automatically lose focus when the access dialogue comes up, but Elemental doesn't. At first, I actually thought it was SUPPOSED to take 15 minutes to start up, but ultimately learned that it was only my firewall blocking it until it gave up.

So, even though it is bypass-able by someone who is computer savvy (and remembers to re-configure his firewall EVERY time Elemental is patched), this still makes the game look really bad. That's why I'd recommend fixing it.

have you tried hitting the y key whilst it's "frozen"? it works in some cases. (obviously you don't know what it is that you are allowing...) or maybe try the gaming mode in za? think that does a default block all/accept all depending on settings.

haven't used za for a while now.. but usually it "freezes" everything with its permission popup... especially if it's a full screened program. and that popup appears every time the .exe is changed
