I recently had my computer's OS restored, and now when I try to put my computer into Sleep (stand by) mode, it goes into sleep mode briefly (the light blinks as usual), and then the system turns itself back on again. This is extremely irritating. Can anyone help me?
It sounds like you might have a task running in the background.
I have a related problem..after coming out of sleep mode my screen is blank for a long time.
What was the reason for the restore?
My hard drive failed, so they put a new hard drive in and installed windows on it.
Update: I tried going into sleep mode with no programs running, but the same thing happened!
Make/model of the HD?
What version of windows? And was it restored from a stock disk (like, you go to the store and buy it in an MS box) or a recovery media from the OEM?
Replacing a HD might reset the bios settings. Long time since I looked at the bios (WIN98) but I am pretty sure there was an option for the HD to sleep or not. Mine never sleep. On 24/7 accept for the damn brownouts.
How would BIOS prevent a system from going into Sleep mode?
