A couple of minor suggestions, to improve the overall feel of the game world.
Firstly I think some of the major items in the wilderness, need to have graphical\texture effects that spread to nearby tiles, take for example the Bone Ogre lair,

Now this creature apparently lives in a volcanic vent, unfortunately This volcanic vent A) has no lava, and
has a surprising amount of unspoilt grassland nearby. In this case i would suggest extending the graphics (note only the graphics, the lair itself should still only be the central tile) in to the neighbouring tiles, as noted in the picture, extending the interesting flora as well as the cracked jutting terrain, would make this seem like less of tile and more a part of the world, some sort of texture blending at the outskirts would be sensible too.
Another example, which I wont bother with a picture for, is the Shards, Imagine it, deep in the wilderness I discover an ancient shard of untold arcane power, and what is it's effect on the environment? 4 dead trees, and some cracked terrain...... Now this one doesn't have to be much, just extend the cracked terrain slightly into the nearby tiles and put some thematic particles in, ie dust storms or whatever.
Second is, and admittedly roads are pretty awful right now and are hopefully not even close to finished, but my personal complaint is that they are way too straight, largely this is because they take no\little account of what is in the tile they are going through, out side of cities as much as in cities, essentially roads just go straight under anything, simply making it so that they deviated slightly,in tile, to avoid, trees, rocks, buildings, etc, would make them look so much better.
