I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by "a threat". Neither are subscription based games, they were released a couple years apart... there's no reason not to buy both. Whoever wanted Sins more likely than not has it by now.

They do list Impulse on their Buy thinger. Retail or Impulse looks like.

Will keep up with it, see how it turns out, but it looks promising.

Impulse and Matrix hopefully start to upload and sell armada 2526 soon. It's promising from what has been shown so far. There is a player review on youtube, btw.

Sins doesn't have to worry, but GalCiv, and to a lesser extent Sword of the Stars, does. GalCiv is showing its age and but for it's excellent planetary development model, would be completely forgettable.

If anything, this game reminds me of Stars! more than any other game. If that is the case...I will be very happy!

BTW: I did an interview with Bob Smith back in September about this game. Seemed promising them and even more so now!

I don't think that it will compete with SoaSE since the armada site http://www.ntronium.com/Armada2526%20Home.html state that there is a turn based strategy map (which reminds me a lot of the map of MOO2). The single player mode could be more a threat for Galactic civilization 2.

It looks like some people are trying to a get another successor to Master of Orion 2

It's $10ish through Atari or Amazon.com.

The game you mention seems to be a rather good RPG indeed, judging from what you say and some good reviews out there. I'm not much in RPGs lately, more in good classic strategy, you know Civ4, SOTS and now Armada 2526.

Tried the game, combat is horrible. Actually, the combat in Galciv2 is much more entertaining than Armada. Even though the game is real time for the combat, but you can't do much to control the actions of your ships other than telling it to go point xyz and attack this or that ship. There is not much tactics involved. Also, it is ridiculous if there is one single enemy marine at the end of the battle, you lose that world, but before that, getting your ships to take out that marine from orbit is a pointless exercise.
