Greetings,
You may not know me but my name is Orlean Knight. I'm not a member of Stardock, but I'm a huge fan of the games and software it produces. Perhaps some of you have seen me most recently dabbling about in Demigod, creating guides and helpful threads throughout beta and the release. Also, I've been playing GalCav 2 since it's release, and though I've found some of its editors to be rather complicated - I'm still trying to manage generating my own content for that game in preparation for creation of content for this game.
Recently I've began production of my own personal GalCiv 2 Mod called "Roots of Triantee". It's a modification which adds a whole new race, technology, and various planetary improvements to the game. Not to mention featuring my artwork. But all of it is really get my gears rolling so I start generating content for Elemental: War of Magic. This games looks to be much more flexible and powerful, and though it's probably going to be an entire year until it's release that doesn't mean one should wait until it's done to start having a little fun.
I'm an artist. I specialize in Digital Painting, Illustration, UI Design, 3D modeling, Game Design, and Story Writing. I also have a number of resources at my disposal, such as Maya, Adobe CS4 Master's Collection, and Wacom Pad. With these tools I can craft assets for my world, and share my journey with the Stardock community and the developers of Elemental. I believe it would be a great benefit for the developers to know what is brewing in their community, and perhaps tweak the game to further compliment the sorts of things we want to generate.
Orlean's World
The world I intend to craft within Elemental is a dark one indeed. One that has suddenly been grasped by an unseasonably long winter. The player will take command of an mortal whose body has been the prison of a long dead god, and born of that soul is a long forgotten magic that will soon shape the world. I've always been biased of a really good antagonist, and in this case it is my intent to share the experience with others. There is quite a hefty load of back story already, including a mythology of thirteen gods that once ruled the heavens as one.
The most powerful of them all was the Holy God of Ultimate Oblivion:

To his left were those who favored the light, to his right were those who favored the darkness. They feared him, for to them, he was symbol of death and rebirth. A figure they could never surpass. Eventually they all decided they no longer needed him and they tried to kill him, but as the most powerful god he had a body that could not be killed. So instead, they chopped his body into millions of undying pieces and scattered them through the world and trapped his soul with a mortal frame. Without his balance, the heavens broke out into war until all but one god was slain.
Through various means, the once banished god of oblivion has awoken from his slumber within mortal flesh and has been freed upon the world. This is where the player takes control, this is where the future lies within your hands. Because the heavens were torn with war, the world itself suffered greatly. Much of the world has been scarred, and it is up to you to manage that ruined land scape.
Concepts
Right now a lot of my ideas are still in the conceptual stage, and I look forward to seeing them grow. For now I'm going to start with the basics. Minions and mounts seems to be a fine place to begin really. With hope I can be able to craft a campaign where I can scatter throughout the world many hidden pieces of the fallen lord. The more you collect, the more powerful you become, and the more twisted you and your followers will appear. Corruption is a very big theme for this world, and I'd very much like to a see a progression where people and various minions under your command start to steadily change in their appearance overtime.
I would think that a game design element that can be built into Elemental to give this transitional illusion would be to allow players the ability to change the general appearance of people as they progress. Such changes in clothing and appearance. Of course I'd use this tool for a more darker purpose, to make it appear as though your power is tainting all of those around you.
