. I *know* modding will change that, just based on how frogboy's been talking about it. (not to mention my own plans) I suspect that some fantastic creatures will be easier to obtain than others, possibly some coming in units or swarms (i mean honestly how else could something like a 'goblin' act on a battlefield holding mostly large units)
I also hope modding will allow for nations to provide unique races. I'd love to see our Elemental games have a nation of lizardmen, a nation of dwarves, a nation of undead, a nation of goblins, a nation of elves, a nation of intelligent insects, a nation of orcs and a nation of humans all battle in the realm for control. The game could also include an allied victory setting.
I can only imagine if J.R.R. Tolkien was restricted to having only human races control the cities within his books and the elves, dwarves, goblins, halflings and orcs were just minor side pieces. Even Sauron, the eye of fire, would have to be a human leader. Somehow these fantasy stories would not be as memorable.
