I just installed Fences and got it all set up, though I'm sure I will be modifying it for a while! Looks really nice; I love the concept - I have been fighting with Desktop icon layouts forever. I even tried to do something similar a couple of years ago using ObjectDoc, but that didn't work out too well. Creating the containers was simple enough, but whenever I had anything opened full screen the dock containers would show through. I don’t even use most of my desktop icons - instead I use a program by DonationCoder.com called Find and Run Robot (FARR) for launching applications and also for searching my computer. But there are a few desktop icons that I prefer to keep on my desktop, but I have always hated when I organize them a certain way and then always lose that organization. So Fences works out well for me.
A request I have for Fences: Can you make the hotkey for hiding the desktop icons and Fences configurable? And/or add it to the context menu? I use Directory Opus for my file manager instead of Windows Explorer and Directory Opus already ties up the double-click on the desktop. When I double-click my desktop now a new Directory Opus Lister opens up. So currently I cannot hide my icons or Fences, as double-clicking just opens more file listers here.
Thank you.
