When I click on the link to upload an avatar picture (or any of the three option buttons to upload a picture, for that matter), nothing happens.
Is something broken in that part of the web site?
Odds are that your version of Flash is to new. See the Message at the top of the page labeled" Flash 10 & User Pic Uploading (read more)". Click on the read more part.
Moose if you open the site in IE (grrr) you will be able to upload your images. IE is not affected the same way Firefox is. Hopefully this will be rectified shortly as i hate to even have to open the *!*!* program

I am using IE7, but it still didn't work with Flash 10 installed. It took a while, but I finally found Flash 9 and was able to upload the file.

does it work if flash is NOT installed at all ? (I'm thinking about the IE 64bit edition (or unofficial firefox 64bit) where flash can't be installed))
just thinking of a trick to overcome that limitation without actually modifying your system ...
No, it requires that Flash v9 (9.28 or higher, I think it said) be installed.
