We know that Ironclad is going to introduce a campaign at some later timepoint for SoaSE. I wonder, if it would be a good idea to develope some kind of graphical campaign editor along with it. Users could create their own campaigns and publish them similair like it is done with the mods...
It would need some easy to use functions, thus newbies like myself would be able to write their own stories. Would be cool to build the maps via galaxy forge and then bundle them together to a long story. The storyteller would need to be able to choose starting situations, like how many planets, ships and buildings the player has at the beginning of a map. Perhaps some text pop ups to write the actual story (something like in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri). One would also need to time the pop ups, deciding under which conditions they appear, further developing the storyline (After building/ship X is destroyed, planet Y conquered, coordinates Z are reached, etc). Would be awesome if there would be a very basic possibility for the player to choose the next map. Thus the decision of the player would slightly influence how the campaign evolves.
Don't know if this makes any sense as I have no idea how long it would take to program sth like this. The developement would cost a bit I guess, thus the editor would need to be included in an expansion (perhaps included in the third microexpansion...
)
