Differences in licenses of Objectdock and individually purchased apps.

I don't know if there is a significant difference or not, but I'm curious as to how it's meant to work.

If I look at Objectdock, it has a clear timelimit to how long it is in effect. I assume the subscription timelimit is for upgrades and will not limit the use of the applications after it runs out?

Also, my separately purchased applications doesn't come with an expirationdate. Does that mean that by buying all components individually I get updates until the end of life of the product?

Object Dock does not have a trial time limit. You can download it for free or you can purchase the Plus version for addition content and updates.

However I think you might mean Object Desktop vs individual purchased software titles in the package. Here is the quick version:

If you purchase a subscription to Object Desktop you have 1 year of updates of all of the programs that come with it. After that you can still use the programs and they will forever be yours. They will simply not be updated past that point.

When you purchase a single program from Object Desktop you can get updates for it for as long as we support and update it. Once a new version of that software (like WindowBlinds 5 to version 6) becomes available this will not be included as an update. However you can purchase the next version as a previous customer at a generous discount.

It is better to purchase Object Desktop and then renew (for much cheaper than you purchase it) each year so that you can get all of the programs for much cheaper than you would purchase the programs individually. This also includes many bonuses like free content and any software to the mix. For instance the program Deskscapes was simply added to Object Desktop for subscribers to then download. The only really good reason to purchase a program on its own is because it is the only one you want out of the mix.

Like I said this is the short version of the benefits of buying subscriptions instead of individuals. If you have questions please lay them on me. Almost anyone in this community can give you a large number of reasons to go with a subscription as we really do go out of our way to make it the deal of the century.
