Worked great until I switched Routers...

Hello, I've been using Pro Multiplicity for several months now and I really enjoy it. In fact, it worked perfectly until I purchased and installed a new Linksys router (however, it is identical to my previous router).

I can't seem to get things working. My primary computer never detects the secondary. I've tried using the wizard and manually entering the IP of the secondary. The tray icon stays "grayed out" on the primary all-the-time.

The secondary is not "grayed out" and is red and blue.

My current setup is both computers are linked via ethernet cable to a WRT45G Linksys router with default settings.

I'm definitely not a network guy, but here is what my ipconfig says for both machines:

Is there any firewall on the router?

That is strange. Are you 100% certain the IP address is the same on the secondary after changing the router?

I'm still having the same problem.

Zubaz, why would a firewall on my router stop anything working on the inside of the firewall? (Maybe I dont understand how multiplicity works...), but yes I have a firewall:

I am having this exact same symptoms. I'd been using MP just fine for months until I built a new machine - my primary, installed MP, and now my PCs can't see each other through MP. All other networking between the 2 PCs is fine. My router is a Linksys WRT45G as well. I had not changed any settings on the router between the time I built my new PC.

I made sure all the IP settings were correct in MP.

I did a full reset of the router and turned its firewall off.

WinXp is not running its own firewall on either PC, either.

I've tried forwarding the MP port to both machines on the router although this was not needed before.

I have put my primary on the DMZ as well, as it was before.

None of this worked or I wouldn't be posting.

Tips anyone?

One thing to note: since it was a new PC I downloaded the most recent version of MP (which may or may not have been a newer version).

Regardless, I've reinstalled on both machines without result.

This may be of interest:

My laptop is my secondary, my desktop is my primary. I figured I'd swap em and report the results.

My desktop is the one with the darkend MP icon (disconnected). When it was trying to find a secondary machine it would get about half way through the connection progress bar and quit - looking like a successful connection if I remember how it's supposed to go.

When I tried to make my laptop the primary and connect to the desktop, the connection progress bar went all the way to 100% and I got the Connection tes failed error msg. (Tells you to check your settings and what not).

Well I got it to work... with both machines set up as primaries.

Ok I have fooled with this a bit trying to re-create exactly what's causing this but I'm scared it'll quit working on me again.

Here's what I've done. All these things may or may not need to be done but I've re-created this 2 times in a row now.

Both machines have MP configured as primary and they're both looking for each other as secondaries. This wasn't enough though. I put my desktop (the one i want to be my real primary) back to secondary and then used the wizard to switch it & configure it back to primary.

end result is both still set up a primaries and looking at each other for secondaries. I just had to flop the desktop to secondary then use the wizard to go back to primary.

Undocumented feature?
