Resubscribe because Motherboard died?

I am pretty angry at this situation.  I keep all of my installers and installation media but this one won't let me install a product I purchased previously.  I have to reinstall Object Desktop because my motherboard died and I had to get a new one resulting in my losing access to everything (meaning previous installations... not my data and not my installers).  The license agreement doesn't say anything about not having access to the product after a certain date.  I realize I need to pay a subscription to get the most up-to-date version but please give me access to the product I purchased up to when it expired.  If you want to bar me from downloading the product after my subscription expires then please give me an installer that doesn't require internet access to download the material.  This is not a way to inspire me to resubscribe.  $30 isn't much (assuming the price is still the same) but the fact that I have to pay it for circumstances beyond my control is infuriating.

primem0ver ....during the time you were currently subscribed you had continuous access to all the actual program installers associated with the subscription [and any updates during the same period].

As with anything purchased, whether online or bricks-and-mortar the vendor cannot be held/deemed responsible to replace something you yourself lose.

Such a situation is like wanting Time Magazine to replace all the editions you lost in a fire simply because you used to have a Subscription.

....it's also a lot to expect Time would retain copies of the editions which you might lose.

Yes, you can be 'really angry' - but that should be aimed at your motherboard.

I'd suggest renewing your subscription, and, before it expires download ALL of the program installers and store them 'off-site' [not on your OS hard drive, but an external solid state one] along with the reg key.  That way you will be immune from further/similar issues....

I am not holding you guys responsible as you suggest.  I even suspected that I would not get the updated product installations that occurred after the original install.  What I did expect however was that the original installer would install the original product.  I would decide what to do after that happened.  I can't even do that though.  The original installer doesn't install anything.  It just tells me my subscription has expired.

EDIT: Your entire post is quite frankly condescending and assumptive.  I DO back up EVERYTHING I want to keep as well as the emails with the reg key. I have 10 hard drives including some mirrors of important data.  I also keep track of almost every registration key that I have ever had in a text file on the same drive where I keep my installers.  The installer for object desktop that I downloaded has a last modified date of 5/1/18.  Yes.  I still have it as implied in my original post. As I suggested above I expected it to install the product from that date.  It is true I didn't keep track of update installers and that is on me.  However, it is not unreasonable for me to expect the original installer to work.

Would be interesting to see that. Please post a video of that happening on a video/file sharing site and share the link here. So we can review the issue and understand it.

It seems that the "setup" is really just a subscription manager... absent the typical setup files.  In my experience this is not how most installers work.  Case in point:  My Corel VideoStudio installer from several years ago (which I used to create the above video) downloads the product (approximately 2GB in size) from the internet and then installs it.

I have had dealings with you in the past (see my post history if curious).  I really liked OD when I first came across it.  However, you guys seemed enthusiastic about my suggestions and then completely went on without implementing them.  As of now I really only regularly use Fences, Groupy (which is STILL rather Buggy), and Start10 (which is also buggy... the "MRU" list which is what decides what applications appear on the start menu based on program access frequency doesn't seem to work at all.  I could write a better algorithm).  I realize that Stardock probably has other priorities but since OD seems to be last on their priority list, I have lost interest in a subscription as the subscription hasn't really benefited me at all (no noticeable changes since my original install despite the bugs).  When you implement the other applications into themes as I suggested to make them more useful or if you have updated the MRU algorithm for Start10 and/or fixed the Groupy bug that forces the last used/focused application to the front when I click on the first tab in a folder group (covering up the folder group) then I would be interested in subscribing again.  Otherwise I just want my original software.

primem0ver ... yes, you are correct, the Object Desktop installer IS 'just' a download/install manager.  That is because it is a Subscription Service.  That does expire unless renewed, as does all subscriptions.

What does NOT expire are the individual program installers which are downloaded by the service.

It is those which need to be saved or backed up, as they WILL continue to function/install long after any expiration of the service. They will last 'forever' or until Microsoft alters the OS to a point they no longer relate.

Corel's installer installs one program only, not an on-going and changing suite of self-contained programs each independent of the others... that can be kept and used individually as selected...

Hello,

From your video, you're trying to install your software via ObjectDesktop Manager, which is not going to work since your sub is expired. But if you have a backup copies of all your software under ObjectDesktop, which should be available here "C:\Users\YourName\Downloads\Stardock" as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/479831

You should be able to install each software under ObjectDesktop from there. And your old activation keys should still work for those installer.

Thank you Basj.  That was a big help.  I found them all under my previous installation's Users folder.  I will move them to my installer backup.  Do you know if Stardock has resolved any of the issues I mentioned?
