KeepSafe settings

Using KeepSafe to rebuild system

Is there a way to save the KeepSafe settings other than writing them down? I mean things like the directories backed up, file types etc.

I want KeepSafe to take everything in the directories I set up, then I plan to install XP from scratch, then use KeepSafe to put everything back. I guess a file synching situation is what I'm describing. It would be nice to export the settings from the current system, and then just import them all again on the clean one.

You could export the registry key that handles KS and then import them later. I don't know of another way.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\ThinkDesk\KeepSafe

If there's no "official" way and this works then I'm happy to go with !


I wonder how KeepSafe would handle this tho. I guess I'd need to do a big restore to put all the files back. No biggie I guess.

Right, but Fatboy only wants to recreate the same configuration on his new build, not the revision history. So would a registry import do that?

For what it's worth; I think it would be nice if SD product settings were either ini based or reg based. It can take a while to get things set up the way a user wants, especially with the ThinkDesk suite. Migrating settings to a new systems should be a consideration.

Saying that, you all have developed great tools that have features that are well thought out. You just can't think of everything, right?
