Ummm.... A Vital Part Of This Community, LOL, you were trying to be funny right....

Anyways I want to make one thing clear, i have gotten the feeling that everyone thinks i'm making issues about stats and downloads,ect., maybe in a way, but not in the way you all think.... My main issue is fairness, and that's one thing that i'm not seeing here, first off, lets take this wallpaper issue, when you submit a good amount of walls (10-12), and everyone gets turned down without even a reason why, then you see some medioker work get posted, and then to top it off they end up with rediculas ratings, thats bull, and before someone gives me this crap about bettering my work, or some other excuse like copyright law crap, then maybe you should look at some of the stuff being posted, if your gonna run a policy in such a rediculas manner then it should apply to all, than you might as well take more than half the items off this site.... what about Game images, Harley images Nascar images (just to name a few), I have downloaded these things just to see how many (as Jafo put it once) Actually had SPECIFIC CONSENT, to use whatever images may have been used.... and none i downloaded had any permision what-so-ever.... Yes i may use some images, but the walls i make are mine, I create them you won't see them anywhere else unless i post them there. and lets not forget the 245,5 average of emails i get daily between 2 sites just for my walls alone.... Another Example: How on earth does somethinf like this (and mind you I am not trying to offend anyone, or knock their work), But how do these:

Anyways the main thing i am trying to get across is fairness & and a little respect, something i haven't seen here since i became a subscriber back in november....

But i will take your comment under consideration Dragon, I will think on it, but i won't promise anything, and that is no offence to anyone, like i said before, things like this just make me feel like i'm just wasting my time and efforts, and don't get me wrong, I know in alot of ways it kinda hurts the friends i have made here (have had plenty of comments and emails regarding my leaving), but i just felt that it was time to move on.... but like i said, i will think on it, and if i do deside yo come back here it will be for my friends here.....thanks.....KEEP SKINNING!!!!!!

Hi Linx, first I wan't to say please stay here. Your work is appreciated and the fact that you don't have 10's doesn't change that!

Looking at the above sceenshots I would have to say that the ratings do not just reflect flash graphics, but also usability. While your skins look really cool, the other skins in #5 seem to be easier on the eyes and hence easier for everyday use (mind you that I say this based only on the above screenshots, I don't actually have downloaded the skins). I am sure if you would create your future skins with usablility in mind, you would attract higher ratings too. Flash graphics are just one part of a really good skin, and less is often more.

Also I think the skins in #5 are a part of a skin-suite and might therefore attract higher ratings from users as well (people like having everything matched up).

I think my point is; having a rating of 5 or 6 is not a bad rating (1 is a bad rating). Just try to improve your work. And most importantly; don't stop skinning!!

I want to thank everyone for their imput, and everyone has made their points, and Aufisch, those skin packs do match alot of theme ideas, i think the screenshots here (screenshot catagory) proves they are usable, but thanks for your imput and i have taken everyones points into consideration, Thanks again, but that leaves me with a question, i have been trying to upload a Skin Pack, and i haven't done anything different when preparing my work for up-load, but everytime i try, i keep getting either "Page Cannot Be Found" or "Server Cannot be Found" Pages, is there a size limit in the rainy catagory, and do i have to split this pack up? (which will suck).... Let me know what the problem may be! Thanks

I can't help you with your uploading problem though, I would suggest to email one of the admins.

Lynx's Den deleted works can 'usually' be restored....just list the categories they were in..[eg. rainy, wb, etc] and it can be done...

Getting tired of being bothered. Actually people try to tell me how and what i gotta do with my stuff..I dont think so. it seems if you start to get noticed around here then some people try to do to put you down. Lynx,butch: try to remember, for every negative comment there are usualy many positive remarks that were never made.(but should have been) Both of you add diversity to the libraries here and would be missed if you leave. Keep skinning and posting, I, for one enjoy and appreciate your talent!

Yeah i know butch, like i said that has been part of my issues as well, I don't understand it either, but i am considering try one more time, i just feel some policies need to either be improved, or something, like i said its all about fairness (for all)!!!! for some reason i don't know why everyone thinks its all about ratings, yes unfortunantly they are an implamented part of the issue. Another point i have been trying to make is that i don't feel its right that people running the show have the right to say or deside what is to be allowed and what isn't, not to mention they say this is not allowed, but if someone else makes something simular (with the same images), its allowed, (thats why i like deviantART, they don't judge things the way they do here, and i can say is a big part of their popularity), thats not right to me or as you put it (Butch) is just unacceptable. If your going to implament a policy, it should apply to all (and everyone can see or eventually will that this is not the case).... everyone takes some kind of time and makes some kind of effort (some more than others) regardless of what it should be, let the general public at large deside.... all this system is going to do (the way it currently is) is just going to make people leave and find other places to go where thay feel appreciated, currently, here people (unless your a reg. or a buddy) aren't feeling appreciated, and in turn sure don't feel like they are wanted here. And will someone make an effort about changing this download thing (screenshot catagory), i men come on, how many people are actually going to use the download link, when all you have to do is click on the preview, this to me is stupid, not to mention you don't really know how many views you are actually getting, with this current system.... and lets not forget how it hurts the Author, Example: the old way showed you how many views you were getting, and they counted, now you have no clue. and the view now have dropped dematicly, because its who will click on the download link that counts.... well i could write a book on some of the issues of the site, but unless the admin's, owners, (or whatever), look at it from other sides then just their own, this place will just continue to lose people (sooner or later) The site may be popular for the time being, but people will catch om (some already have) the real question is does the site care?, always remember, there is always room for improvement, there is always room to learn, for us as skinners, or whatnot who i might add, without the majority, this place wouldn't exist, and you as site leaders....

And Butch, you have always supported me (My work), and its been appreciated, don't give up on me now

Maybe....Just Maybe if the site-leaders actually listen, then maybe something around here will improve, if not, i can pronise you i will be on my way again, and at that time, it will be for good (sad to say)

Thanks Jafo, i agree with dragon, you are the only one (so Far) that has helped, and actually respond, and act like you really care about not only the majority, but also about the site, and that has been very much appreciated by not only myself, but i think i can say by many, keep up the great work and the great attitude

Have a question for you.... I ahve a skin pack i created for rainlendar, as you may remember i kinda had a little voting thing on it in th forums... i have tried to upload it, but everytime i do (which has been about 20 times now

), and all i get is the server or pages not being found when i click the submit button.... is there a size limit or something, or is there some other problem.... before you ask, no i haven't changed anything in regards to preparing my uploads, this has been the first time i have had this problem..... Thanks

Lynx's Den all the site admins/wizops actually 'care' about Wincustomize. It's a prerequisite of becoming an admin/wizop.

Unfortunately, when attempting to handle the complexities of a site with over 1.7 million members....it is often a fine balancing act to please them all...or at least the majority of them.

Often things may give an impression of 'preferential treatment' or similar...but that is simply down to differences in perception, not reality.

A perfect example...to use butch123 as an example, [sorry butch... ], while many people [including me] were 'concerned' about his very frequent uploading of screenshots it did not stop me from continuing to approve them for display as it was not a significant issue in the true nature of things. Likewise, butch had misunderstood about the rules of consent receipt with regards to the posting/distribution of ports ....but after the typical to-ing and fro-ing of emails it was sorted...so his port uploads were allowed.

Once the 'requirements' are resolved these works must unfortunately run the gauntlet of public scrutiny...and some 'may' attract criticism, and/or low ratings.

Provided the 'criticism' does not cross boundaries of common decency...and the ratings applied are not invidiously unfair, or a serial attack on a user's gallery then they remain.

If any member has issue/s with ratings and/or comments they are free to contact an admin for scrutiny.

Most sites do not afford you that respect, leaving you to the mercy of the vindictive.

Sure, people leave for all sorts of reasons...and they also return as frequently. This is just 'net reality'. Usually it is just 'real life' [tm]....but if it's through genuinely unfair 'attack' the admins can, and often do resolve it to the betterment of all...

Well Jafo, thats nice to know, and i appreciat the info, but thats not what i have seen.(besides your efforts trying to make people understand what why, ect., and yes i have payed attention to the forums

But i am willing to take another shot (kinda reluctantly), but i'm willing, I love what i do, and i am always willing to learn and take whatever kind of critusizum, and not to bost or sound conseeded i feel my work is just as good as anyones, and can admit with some help of fellow skinners i have even improved quite a bit.... and i just feel that it would be a shame that because of some issues that in my opinion could use some tweaking, or even immproved, that wouldn't be shared, showed, and commented on (either bad or good, which doesn't bother me), on a site that with issues aside, i like, I wouldn't of become a subscriber if i didn't.

and trust me you don't have to tell me about how it is when you run or are and admin of a site, who's member base is in the millions, been there done thatas an Admin. a couple of time
