Beta 3A CTD when generating galaxy...

Seems like I'm stuck out in the cold in this run. CTD as soon as I start to generate the galaxy. I have already sent in the smartexception file as was suggested by smartexception.

I'll have to try different things to see if I can get around it, but so far no luck yet. Beta 3 did work fine... Just not 3A

Alorial,
A few of us are seeing problems from corrupted files that might be due to a problem with the Beta 3A update. It has been suggested to me that perhaps (hopefully) the full install package may be different. At lease, a full uninstall/install worked for me. If you do this, make sure you delete the saved game file after using SDC to uninstall GC2. See my post at : https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=85593

And good luck. Tomorrow is Labor day and it is unlikely that we will be able to get ahold of the developers until Tuesday.

Ironicly i started on this bandwagon with the current version as of this post... so i may have not....i realised somting if we all do a complete uninstall IE:Cleanslate and do a complete installation we are a lot less likly to get CTDs and stuff

If done when warrented, yes. Otherwise it eliminates a very important test of the product --- success in delivering an upgrade.

I think Lucky Jack has a good point. When the update comes out, just patch. Try it out and send in bug reports on your success or failure. If you fail to be able to play, uninstall and start from scratch.

That way SD knows their patch system isn't quite working right... and you still get to test the beta...

Hmm.... uninstall/reinstall... problem persists. Trying again with complete and total wipe of the entire GC2 folder

Heh, forgot that folder, but it worked anyway. Game is quite playable now and I am working on my first Beta 3a game. I should have some reports on other issues soon.
