I installed Gal Civ 3 under E:\Program Files (x86)\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III. Yet, I have a number of .dmp and .zip files stored under C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III. There are 13 .dmp files that are either 137 MB or 127 MB in size. There are 10 .zip files that vary between 0.98 MB and 1.09 MB. There are also two other files: K2FontTexture_Small.dds 4.00 MB and K2FontData_Small.fontdata 535 KB. All of these files take up 1.70 GB on the hard disk. Does anyone know what these files are and what purpose they serve? What would happen if I deleted them?
The .dmp and .zip files are generated by crashes and occasionally at normal game end. You can delete them without any harm.
Do not remove the font files, they are needed by the game.
