Random crashes with total reboot of the PC

Beta ver 0.81.0.0

Nothing specific, it crashes at any time, even doing nothing, just looking at the planet screen, the tech tree screen, the general map, etc., even when "alt tabbed" while using Notpad or an Internet navigator.

If I remember correctly, it started with Beta 4 ver 0.70 release and subsequent.

Beta ver 0.82.4.0

After 4 hours in a game (in 3 sessions), and a dozen launches of the program to check rapidly various things, I have not had a crash yet; I hope this will last.

Crash with total reboot of the PC, during a game on large map, after 5 hours of playing. No dump files generated.


I will wait for next patch before continuing to test the game.

I wonder if it could be a 3rd party program.

For me HWiNFO 64 is my problem. I use it for extra fan control here in the desert.

If I do not use it or turn it off right after start all is fine.

Did you install anything or update anything prior to the 0.70

Perhaps your overheating your machine? Make sure that your VSYNC is on. With it off my graphics card went into overdrive.

Thanks, and I have nothing installed between changes in the game versions, only the updates for the graphics card (not beta versions), and perhaps updates for Firefox, and automatic updates for Windows 7.

I do not use special programs, and it can crash with just GalCiv3 active.

I have no particular display problems, and I uses the default game setting: VSync "off".

I will give it a try next time I'll play the game.

Yes, the temperature increases when galciv3.exe is active, but, apparently, less in the lastest versions of the game.

Also, I already had highest temperatures, without galciv3.exe active, and without any problem.

And the game can crash after 5 minutes, or after 5 hours of play.

3 crashes in less than 1 hour.

1 complete freeze of the PC, necessity to turn off the power.

1 crash to desktop.

1 crash with total reboot of the PC.


It's enough for today.

I'll wait for the next version of the game.

Some update about the crashes problem.

Ver 1.0.2.6

I completed two entire games without a crash; one game in a session of about 6 hours, and the other game in two sessions of about a total of 8 hours (6 hours and 2 hours).

Ver 1.0.3.1

One crash with total reboot of the PC.

No ticket.

Not tested yet with Ver 1.0.3.3
