First, there's no question about it, this is the most fun I've had with Elemental/Fallen Enchantress BY FAR. The pacing feels better, the leveling is FUN, the new monsters are fun to find, the new items, the new spells, the new....everything. It's just a very polished product now that has really won me over.
Most noticeably, however, are the new changes to tactical battles. They're now my favorite part, which is saying something because I used to auto-battle pretty much every single time. I love the new battlefields and I love the new mechanics. I'd like to see more battlefield obstructions, but the ones in place so far are a real delight! I don't like that swarm happens twice with backswing and I'm getting the feeling that as it's implemented now, it's a little OP, but that's something that can be fixed. Other than that, I am only seriously impressed that you've managed to make them so fun. Great job!
I've noticed some bugs, which are to be expected, but I've only had one crash to desktop. Steam auto-sends those, right? I'm curious about the rain and thunder noises, as I've mentioned, but other than that, nothing gets in the way of my playing so far. There's an odd spelling error here and there (that have already been reported), but some of the most annoying bugs from earlier versions are completely gone. Well done.
Are we ever going to see the return of those other two factions? I miss the Umber.
TL;DR You guys have a franchise now. This is a fantastic game and quite frankly, one for the record books. You've finally managed to nail the "one more turn" feel for me and I'm a hard sell. I've been a positive voice here on the forums, even in face of some negativity, but I can finally say that my faith was well placed.
Can I pay for this game again? I would. Just to support your tireless efforts.
I know we still have a couple months of fleshing this thing out, but consider doing another expansion. I will easily pay $30 for another addition to this AAA franchise. Good job, SD. You've come a long way with Elemental. I hope the sales - and the review scores - reflect.
