Guessing the issue might be shards in posession but not finished built (or in the process) are being counted.
Do not know if this applies to other spells, but definitely applies to heal.
My health bars are broken. Always showing the wrong amount of health, sometimes the health bar is full and I only have something like 1 health. It makes the game very confusing.
