Quoting greyseer, reply 2Yeah, I know that the Advent has Homing Mine Sqaudrons attached to their Carriers, but advent carriers cannot lay independent mines in a non-colonisible zone like a Worm-hole or Asteroids-belt like the Vasari can, the Vasari actually have a specialised mine layer unit - the Ruiner.
There nothing in the game that says they cant.
Quoting greyseer, reply 2But if you look at the images closely, those are Homing Mines, like the kind that are built by fabricator from the Tactical Structures menu of a planet's build menu, and not Homing Mine Sqaudrons.
There are only 1 kind of homing mine. The kind built from the Advent Carriers. You make a squad, then you deploy that squad. When deployed they turn into the mines you see there.
So before you bash this game, make sure you know how to play it.
Ok, then please explain the following images then, Homing mines deployed in a Magnetic Cloud zone. I take it that to deploy the mines from the sqaudron to a zone acts like ability in the squadron control panel, I thought that Magnetic clouds disabled all abilities? otherwise you'll be build starbases and the like in them too.
But I think I found the bug, the Homing Mines are being towed through phase lanes and worm holes by their targets when get close enough to the event horizon. I even towed some through wormholes with scouts just to see if it was possible. will it's not easy to do, it's not very hard either. you just need a unit with medium health levels, to survive the first mine or two, the third mine takes the unit out and the the rest continue on through the wormhole. For some reason the wormholes and phase lane scripts veiw the moving Homing Mines as jumping ships and thus pulls them through it.
Finally it's not my intention or want to bash the game, as I said before it's a good game, but it could be a bloody awesome game if the bugs were dealt with.
