I looked in the suggestions list but didn't see anything similar to this, but please let me know if something like this has already been suggested
As a longtime fan of the fire emblem series, it would be interesting to see elemental implement a melee weapons system similar to fire emblem.
In fire emblem, swords were strong against axes, while axes were strong against polearms, and polearms were strong against swords. Now, I'm not saying elemental should strictly follow this, but I do think that some weapons should have advantages over other weapons for both gameplay and realistic reasons (eg swords are fast, thus strong against axes, axes can break polearms, and polearms can reach further than swords...). This would be similar to how using fire magic is strong against earth creatures and add an extra dimension to tactical combat. Right now, all you do with your heroes is purchase the latest weapons with the highest attack, regardless of what they are. Using a sword with 20 attack is no different from using an axe with 20 attack. But, if you gave the sword a 50% attack boost against axe wielders, and axe wielders a certain percentage against another type of melee weapon, etc...that would actually give you reason to give your characters different weapons.
I might add more to this later
