Scenarios broken under UL 2.02

I recently bought the Kalypso retail set 'Ultimate Edition' and updated it last week when the 2.02 patch became available. Since then I cannot play any scenarios. They always end in a 'Windows has ecountered an error and needs to close' type CTD. This goes for both the scenarios that came with the game and those I have downlaoded from elsewhere.

Under 1.97 I had no problems at all and currently the campaigns and the sandbox mode seem to run fine. It is just the scenarios that consistantly CTD.

I have reinstalled the game and updated my GPU drivers to the latest offered by nvidia but still the problem persists. I hope someone can help me with this - it-s begining to drive me crazy. I include the debug file below:

Well, it looks like it's just me then...fair enough, nothing I like better than being a special case..

Anyways...I've been looking into this more closely. If I launch the game from either the basic GalCiv2 exe or the Dark Avatar one that are found in the root folder i can then run scenarios. Both exe files launch the game with the relevent UI, graphics etc of the chapters in question (DL or DA,) If the game is launched either from the shortcut on my desktop, or from the Twilight exe, scenario's simply crash when started. Interestingly, instead of starting with its relevenet chapter UI etc as the other two do, starting from the twilight exe defaults to the new 'Ultimate Edition' front end that has been present since the patch. I have also realised that I can no longer change between chapters since the patch. I wonder if my scenario issue is linked to this.

I don't have many ideas as to what this might be. I checked the 'English' language key issue in the regsitry that was a problem with Endless Universe but it looks the way it should. I'm fairly certain my drivers are ok and my machine runs other games fine as it did with this before the patch. Seriously, any help would be really appriciated. it's driving me nuts now.
