Thanks, I am aware of Boot Camp as an option. In fact, I have a 125 gig Boot Camp partition on the computer I'm writing this text on, but have always found it to be too much of a hastle just to play a game or run a windows application. For that and a number of other reasons, I'm soon going to remove the partition, or at least shrink it significantly, and would like to try for a different approach to playing games. I've had a good amount of success running various games in Crossover Games and in VMWare Fusion, and find that to be much more convenient. While some games would never work in emulation, or would not run fast enough, the ones that do are more than enough to satisfy my gaming appetite.
I've long been a fan of DotA (running in the Mac version of Warcraft III) and am very intrigued by Demigod. That's why I'm asking if a modern game that takes advantage of the newest technologies will run in emulation – it may be a little crazy, but that game looks pretty sweet. VMWare does boast compatibility with DirectX 9.0c, and, as I mentioned, I've run some other games just fine, so I'm hoping for the best here.
If it doesn't run in VMWare, I might install it in Boot Camp, but, as I mentioned before, I would much rather not, and it would greatly affect my buying decision. For the meantime, before I make that decision, I must know if I'll be able to run it efficiently under Mac.
By the way, before anyone asks – I am fully aware that Demigod is in a beta state, and is bug-filled and not especially fun yet. Being a developer myself, and talking to the developers at PAX, I am enthused to participate in the creation of this game, and can only look forward to the evolution of Demigod and it's eventual launch.
Thanks everyone for your patience!
