Can i control battles?

I just started CIV2 TOTA, but battles seems a bit dull, my fleet just shoot at the other one in the main planet screen, and there is no tactics involved like in sins of a solar empire...

am i doing something wrong or is battle really like CIV??

No. Unfortunately you can't give your fleets commands like that. I would be cool to just once say 'Attack pattern delta, engage'

From past posts its been said that tactical combat is not in this game because it would give a human player a huge advantage. I can definitely see that but that might be because i haven't played games that do have it.

Why SOSE can have it and not Galciv I don't know. But at least the game goes quicker with combat that you can skip.

True that. Isn't there a tech that allows all ships in orbit to defend as a fleet? I'm 99% sure that I have seen this tech.

Not a tech, exactly.

Orbital fleet manager allows up to your logistical limit to function as a fleet, and can be built one per planet. Hyperion fleet defense can only be built once per civ, but allows all ships in orbit of said planet to function as a fleet regardless of logistics.

Ahhhhh, thats how it works. I have never had to use this yet.
Question....The Hyperion fleet defense. Do you mean only ONE civ can have it and it all depends who builds it first or do you only get to pick one planet in your own civ to use it on when you build it?

I believe that its one PER civ. SO each civ can have their own.

And I have never built one. Come to think of it, I've never build any defense structures.

Notice the part about "said planet".

In answer to your question, no. It only works that way for the planet you build it on.
