I doubt this post will accomplish anything very much but I wanted to register my disappointment that it seems I need to install Internet Explorer 7 to get the latest version of Impulse to work. To be more accurate, my gripe is that I need Internet Explorer on my machine at all to use Impulse.
Stardock Central is/was great. The whole Stardock setup for buying/licensing/updating software is great and I've gone on record on more than one game forum saying just that. Not only is it good that in these days of invasive DRM software one company is treating its customers responsibly but game developers can also benefit from this business model; Sins of a Solar Empire is a game that I'd probably never have bought were it not for Stardock Central.
However ... I don't use IE as far as that is possible. Since it is too difficult to remove completely from Windows XP, I have to live with it being there. It is a browser for heavens sake and one I don't care for for a number of reasons, none of which I will go into here. But it seems that, if I want to be able to play Stardock games, I now have to live with yet another generation of IE, with all the nonsense, security holes, bug fixes, updates etc that that entails.
As I started by saying, I don't suppose this post will accomplish anything. But at least I've made my objection.
