Help with Object Dock and Shortcuts

Hey, I need help..

I have a set of icons at the top of my screen (shortcuts for my programs) and Im happy about that.. What I also want to do is when I click one of the icons I want another icon to appear over the taskbar to notify that the program is running.. I don't want it to show on either the taskbar or system tray.. just over the taskbar.. Is that possible?

If so, is it possible to have system tray icons to show above the taskbar as well?

Why don't you put together a mock up of what you want.  Maybe that will help.
I don't think you can prevent a runnign task from showing in systray or taskbar.  You can always hide the taskbar though.
You can have one dock have your shortcuts and another dock show running tasks (using the Plus version) . . is that what you want?

I put this in the other post as well.

Try this:

Create a second dock and set it to run Dislpay open windows along with my icons, under the Dock Contents tab.

Remove all other icons on that dock.

Set the dock to the bottom of the screen, then click on positioning then tweak the align left and right slider so that the dock is posistioned over your taskbar. You can use the appearance tab to adjust the size down to something the size of the taskmanager.

That should do what you are looking for.

Are you usign the Free or the Plus version?  More than one dock is only available in the Plus.

I just got the plus version and I installed it and it still brings me to the free version.. Hold on and let me see how to fix this..

You need to uninstall the free version, before you install the Plus.
Remove both, reboot, and install Plus.

ok.. I got Plus version to work now.. I want the systems tray and task bar to show up as icons on another dock instead of the taskbar.. I just want to see the taskbar empty at all times.. Is that possible?

You can hide the whole of the start bar with systray included. Then you can make one dock be taskbar icons and running window icons, with a second bar being your short cuts.

If that is what you meant the under general options check the "hide the taskbar". After that go through the steps I wrote out in #2.

But I dont want to hide the taskbar.. well is there a way to just make the taskbar programs only show up on the dock without hiding the taskbar? I'll use some other program to hide the system tray..

You want apps to go to teh dock *instead* of the taskbar but still *show* the taskbar?

I've never heard of a way.

I think it looks cool that way.. But if it's not possible, I guess I can just hide the taskbar...

You can't have the systray, and running tasks on the same dock, but seperate docks works great. That how I use it. Or you can have a systray tab, and a running tasks tab on a muliti-tabbed dock.

Yes.
If you have the taskbar and systray showing . . apps will show there.
You can hide the taskbar and use other apps to replicate with customization (ObjectDockPlus and ObjectBar come to mind first)

Windowblinds can skin the Windows taskbar.
Objectbar allows you to create custom taskbars.

Why not hide it and use a DesktopX digital clock like this one:  Digital Clock

Or get OB and build a bar like this one.
All it is is a Blue Luna bar with a clock at the end.
No Start button, no runnin tasks.  Nuthin. (Both could be added easily)
I hide my Windows taskbar . . add the ObjectDock dosc . . and I have what you want (I think)

because I like the way my bar looks.. I don't want to change the way my computer looks now.. all I want to do is change it so the tasks and sys show on the dock instead of the bar.. Is it possible to do that?

neither ObjectDock nor ObjectBar actuallytake over/replace either the taskbar or systemt tray.

They pick up the same information from the taskbar or tray your Operating System picks up.

They only way they can 'replace' the bar/tray is you hide the taskbar/system tray.


About the only way to get an empty (and keep it empty) would be using either DTX or OB and then hide the default one.
