Social and Military Production

I am having a problem with social and military production. I recently started a new game and decided that I would use social and military production. When I created a custom race I put both of them at +20 and I chose the appropiate political party for another +20 giving me a +40 in both catagories. When I started the game I received another +10 to both because of the moon. I checked the stats for racial configuration and seen that I had a +50 in both catagories. However when I looked at them on the planetscape they were nowhere near +50. The only reason I can figure this out is because they have not been implemented properly. Right now I am at +70 in both for the racial stats but only at +30 for the planet. If someone can figure this out and tell me it would be grealy appreciated.

The planet does not list your civilization ability. It only lists bonuses that are specific to that planet.

Hi!
However when I looked at them on the planetscape they were nowhere near +50.

Check the plant's details, and note how many basic production points it can produce. Now set spending to 100%, military slider to 100%, soc and res to 0% and check the planet's output. It should be exactly the base_production * (1 + race_bonuses + tech_bonuses + planet_bonuses).

When I started the game I received another +10 to both because of the moon.


I feel stupid. I never knew that. I always thought that 10% came from the initial colony somehow.

Thanks for the input about the production. I thought that when you setup both of the production units that they would be separate. This to tetleytea the rings around the planets also give a +10 to research.

On another note on the topic of social and military production, this is what makes you win games. All the other stats are way to weak to win a game. With a good bonus to military and social production and a combination of expansion, the game is already in your pocket. Plus, there is no way, like other strategy games, win a game without expanding. If you stick to your solar system without expanding your empire, you simply don't win. It's even hard to achieve the other victory conditions like a tech victory, alliance, and especially influence and military victory. Because everything is related, you still need a good number of colonies say at least 6 to drive to a tech and alliance victory or else you simoly don't have enough resources to aim for those victories. Think about it, if you have 4 colonies and your enemies have more than 6 colonies each, even if you have a good social and military production your enemies(AI) have better resources to achieve any victory.
