Both these events cause a race to suddenly get a large number of free ships. These ships are generally small, low class fighters. I’ve had three vengeance events in a row in a gigantic galaxy in the end game stage. I think the Torian’s actually have more than a thousand vengeance fighters. Which are really bogging down there economy and is also seriously hampering my computer.
With the Torians, Korath and my sizable fleets there is an excess of 1500 ships flying around.
The Torians have gone from being a easily crushable but viable second to a far beyond broke third rate player. They are now 1560 BC in debt and are scrapping stations left and right. This includes all there economic and mining stations thus thereby destroying any chance of ever clearing the debt.
It also protects them from me waging war on them, not by a show of military power, but by annoyance. I can’t really bring myself to hunt down over a thousand low level fighters. Besides al these ships do two damage in an age where the ship average is above 200.
I’d say this event needs some tweaking.
1. Free ships is fine, but the amount and placement should be changed. I think it would make a lot more sense if the race that receives ships should get a 10 or 15% increase in there military rating in the form of a small number of medium and large ships out fitted with the best available weapons for that race. For instance The a race has a military worth 1000 points. A vengeance event happens and they get a few free high tech ships in there own space worth 100 to 150 military points. This ensures the race will actually have be able to support the fleet. I would also suggest that races favor scrapping low tech/ old military ships in favor of large star bases en mining bases.
2. Another option is changing not the amount of ships but the effectiveness of available ships. In the form of some highly focused combat enhancements. For example your cowardly assassination of our beloved leader ‘X’, has enraged race ‘Y’ and they declare war, it has also caused there soldiers/fleets to become outraged, their ships gain a x % military bonus for x turns. (depending on difficulty level and size of the universe. )
